Projection

Understand what a player's season could look like if his current pace and performance level continue.

Projection

Overview

Projection illustrates what a player's full-season analytical profile could look like if his current pace and performance level continue.

It extends the current season across a complete 17-game regular season and evaluates the resulting profile through the same live Intelligence model used for the player's current Overall Score.

Key question

What could this player's season look like if the current pace continues?

It should be interpreted as a structured analytical scenario, not as a forecast of exactly what will happen.

Where Projection Is Used

Projection is available in:

  • Receiving Intelligence
  • Rushing Intelligence
  • Passing Intelligence

Each engine applies Projection to the statistics and categories relevant to that position.

Projection is not part of:

  • Historical Intelligence
  • Dynasty Market

Historical Intelligence evaluates completed seasons, while Dynasty Market evaluates market behaviour rather than football production.

What Projection Represents

Projection extends the player's accumulated production to a complete regular season.

Statistics that grow through continued participation, such as opportunities, yards, touchdowns and fantasy production, are extended according to the player's current pace.

Metrics that already describe the quality or share of performance remain based on the player's observed level.

The resulting projected profile is then evaluated through the same Intelligence framework used for the current season.

This means Projection is not simply a list of projected statistics. It is a projected analytical profile.

Projection Is a Scenario, Not a Prediction

Projection assumes that the player's current conditions continue.

It does not independently predict:

  • injuries;
  • future availability;
  • depth-chart changes;
  • trades;
  • coaching changes;
  • schedule difficulty;
  • changes in offensive philosophy;
  • sudden improvement or decline in efficiency.
Interpretation

This is what the player's season could resemble if the current pace and profile remain broadly unchanged.

It should not be read as a guarantee.

Projection Confidence

Projection Confidence indicates how much observed season data supports the projected profile.

Early in the season, a small number of games can produce a pace that changes significantly after only one additional performance.

As the season progresses, the projected profile generally becomes more stable because it is supported by more observed football.

A lower confidence label does not mean the Projection is incorrect. It means the current pace has had less time to establish itself.

A higher confidence label indicates that the projection is supported by a larger portion of the season.

Why Early Projections Can Move Quickly

Early-season pace is naturally sensitive.

A single large performance can temporarily create an extremely strong projected season. Likewise, one quiet game can reduce the projection sharply.

This movement is expected because the projection is responding to the information currently available.

As more games are played:

  • one performance has less influence;
  • the player's role becomes clearer;
  • production pace becomes more stable;
  • the projected profile generally changes less dramatically.

Projection Confidence helps users interpret that difference.

Projection and Current Overall Score

The current Overall Score evaluates the player's performance through the games already played.

Projection asks what that profile could become over a complete season if the current pace continues.

The two values may differ because a player's accumulated production and full-season pace can create a different positional profile when extended across the season.

Projection does not replace the current Overall Score. It adds a future-oriented view of the same current performance.

Projection and Baseline

Baseline compares the current profile with the player's previous completed season.

Projection extends the current profile toward the end of the present season.

They answer different questions:

  • Baseline: How does the player compare with last season?
  • Projection: What could the current season look like if the present pace continues?

Baseline looks backward. Projection looks forward.

Projection and Trend Strength

Projection describes the possible full-season result of the player's current pace.

Trend Strength describes whether the player's profile is currently improving or declining.

A player can therefore have:

  • a strong Projection but a negative Trend Strength;
  • a modest Projection but a strong positive Trend Strength;
  • strong values in both;
  • weak values in both.

For example, a player who started the season exceptionally well may still carry a strong Projection even while his recent profile is declining.

Conversely, a player who began slowly may have a modest Projection while showing clear recent improvement.

When Projection May Be Unavailable

Projection may not be displayed when the current season does not contain enough valid information to create a meaningful projected profile.

An unavailable Projection should not be interpreted as zero or as a negative evaluation.

It simply means that NFL Fantasy Mate cannot currently produce a suitable full-season scenario for that player.

How to Use Projection

  1. Review the current Overall Score and category profile.
  2. Check Projection to understand the current full-season pace.
  3. Review Projection Confidence before placing too much weight on the result.
  4. Use Trend Strength to determine whether the underlying profile is improving or declining.
  5. Compare with Baseline to understand how the current season relates to the player's previous level.
  6. Add Team Context where available to understand whether the player's offensive role supports the projected outcome.

What Projection Is Not

Projection is not:

  • a guaranteed final score;
  • an injury forecast;
  • a weekly fantasy-points prediction;
  • a dynasty valuation;
  • a replacement for current performance;
  • a prediction of future role changes.

Its purpose is to show what the player's analytical season could look like if the current pace continues.

Remember

Projection extends the current profile. It does not claim that current conditions will remain unchanged.
