These contextual indicators help explain what made the season important.
They do not alter the Historical Overall Score.

Previous Season Comparison
Previous Season Comparison shows how the selected season differs from the player's most recent qualifying season.
It helps identify whether the player improved or declined compared with the previous completed year.
This comparison is player-relative rather than league-relative.
Career Best Comparison
Career Best Comparison measures how close the selected season came to the strongest season previously produced by the player.
It helps distinguish new career highs from seasons that remained below the player's historical peak.
Position Best Comparison
Position Best Comparison places the selected season alongside the strongest historical season recorded at the same position.
It provides positional perspective rather than career perspective.
Category-Level Differences
Historical comparisons extend beyond the Overall Score.
NFL Fantasy Mate also highlights how the analytical profile changed between seasons, helping users understand why two seasons received different evaluations.
Top Competitor
Top Competitor is available for wide receivers and tight ends.
It identifies the most significant eligible receiving teammate during the selected season, providing additional context about the player's receiving environment.
It does not increase or reduce the Historical Overall Score.
Historical Tags
Historical Intelligence may assign descriptive tags that highlight notable career or historical situations.
These tags are research aids rather than scoring adjustments.
Career Peak
Identifies the strongest qualifying season within the player's career.
Near Career Peak
Highlights seasons that closely approached the player's highest historical level.
Elite Season
Highlights completed seasons that reached an exceptional historical level within the positional population.
Historical Rarity
Identifies seasons with unusually uncommon analytical profiles.
Historical Rarity is not the same as Elite Season. A season may qualify for one, both or neither.
Bounceback
Highlights seasons representing a meaningful recovery after a weaker previous qualifying season.
Tags Can Overlap
A season may receive multiple historical tags at the same time.
Each tag describes a different aspect of the season's significance rather than duplicating the same information.
Historical Context Is Descriptive
Historical Context does not provide projections, trade recommendations or dynasty advice.
It explains what happened and why the completed season deserves attention within the available historical record.

Historical Overall tells you how strong the season was. Historical Context tells you what that season meant within the player's career, position and environment.
